I feel like the little boy in the Disney commercial. I'm too excited to sleep. (Which of course means I'll be crazy tired by the time May gets here.) Attending SoFabCon has become nothing short of an obsession for me. The next 50 days are going to be very, very, very long...
I talked on the official SoFabCon blog about why I was planning to attend. I made a SoFabCon playlist on Spotify. I've even blogged about my conference packing list. What you might not have known is that I'm totally already packing. 50 days out I'm starting to pack. (I told you I was excited!)
And by starting to pack I mean my guest room has become my own personal SoFabCon staging ground. As soon as I think I need to take it I'm throwing it on the bed. (And occasionally taking something back as I realize I might actually need it during the next 50 days.) There are things I know I won't need before then. Like the world's shiniest cocktail dress. Which is still a maybe. I have it there so I can think about it. I like to sparkle but I don't know if I have it in me to sparkle quite that much. Do I sparkle that much? I suppose I can find out when I learn how to build my brand and community with Debba Haupert, one of the conference presenters. Maybe my brand is sparkly?
The world's most fabulous evening bag, however, is definitely attending. I know I'll have to watch my back to make sure it's not pilfered by other members of the #purplearmy. (For those of you following along at home I swear there's nothing but love between the members of the #purplearmy and #teampinksparklepants. And for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, trust me...you're better off not knowing.) One thing that's kind of crazy about blogging is that I have friends who have trusted me with access to their blogs. (I know just enough about html to be dangerous.) A certain member of #teampinksparklepants even likes to volunteer me for secret top coding missions. I'm hoping to learn some new tricks by attending the WordPress/HTML session with Jay Thornton and Chris Whittle. I want to know enough about html to be really dangerous.
Rumor has it that my talk of Hello Kitty Karaoke was not taken seriously. I can assure you Hello Kitty Karaoke will happen during the in room after parties we're planning. (Mallery even has a costume for her performance.) Oh, and that little plush? It's none other than the real Lilac the Bunny. She will be attending SoFabCon, too. I hope I didn't need to buy her a ticket. If you're six inches and under you attend for free, right? And even though my enthusiasm for all things after hours at the conference might lead you to believe otherwise, I can't wait to hear Tiffany Romero speak about finding work/life balance during her session on Powering Down. (Says the girl who's often working on blog stuff well past midnight...)
If there aren't pictures it didn't happen. That's why the world's coolest camera bag will be at my side all day, every day. And if you're attending I promise not to publish any photos that might be deemed embarrassing. (Although my idea of embarrassing and yours might not align. Soooooooo...you've been warned.) One thing for sure, whatever photos I do take are going to be awesome. That's because I'll get to hear Rachel Rockwell's advice on great blog photography at SoFabCon. (Her blog photos are totally swoon-worthy.)
I'm also fully stocked on flip up and round business cards. Also known as the most annoying business cards to receive because of their awkwardness. I should care, but I don't. Because they're crazy adorable. I suppose I'll throw in some of my boring old regular rectangle shaped cards, too. Just in case. I could ask blogging guru Andrea Deckard her thoughts. She's presenting a session on monetizing my blog. (Should brands get the boring cards? Should I stop calling my traditional cards boring? We shall see...)
Of course the obvious things have happened already. (You know, the things a normal person would do when they're planning to attend a conference.) The ticket has been bought. The room at the hotel is booked. The plane tickets are reserved. Now I just have to wait.
This is going to be the slowest 50 days ever...

I think I am going to explode from excitement before the conference even gets here!
ReplyDeleteEeek!! I KNOW! I just bought my first official "conference outfit" today! Well, half of it....I am going back for the pants a bit closer to travel time. and HELLO! Where did you get your CB luggage tag??
ReplyDeleteLOL, I'm going to get into trouble for posting that luggage tag picture. Christy has already asked me about it, too. Sydney sent it to me after we finished up with the winter round of GE. I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteHas your costume arrived? I need a sneak peek!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE wearing that dress at the conference. Feel free to leave that ugly purple purse at home though.
ReplyDeleteConference outfits? eek! Guess I better go shopping for something other than yoga pants :) BTW love the sparkly dress. Bring it!
ReplyDeleteBut are your yoga pants sparkly????
ReplyDeleteWait, on second thought I'm not sure that makes them better. ;) Can't wait to see you!!!
The dress doesn't like my boobs at the moment. Need more juicing, I think. :)
ReplyDeleteI will steal that luggage tag at BeaverCon. Be forewarned.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a boob-hating dress. That can't be good. Do we need an exorcism?
ReplyDeleteYou don't want it. I licked it.
ReplyDeleteTouche!
